The beginning of time

The words of origin

After looking at creation stories from across the globe, including Greek mythology, the story of Mantis from the San people of South Africa and Celtic creation narratives, participants created their own stories about how time began.

The lazy creation

by Joao Godinho

You startled my dream.
Light as a shadow, a silence of ruins.

You told wonders untold, and wondered how old.
Dark pray as a sin and no one to blame.

With eyes asunder you stargazed the void
and built me an infinite so small, so scant,
that when I awoke, I could hold in one thought
the rejoice of recant.

Creating is spoiling the perfection that was.
Myth is this memory that fades into matter.

So I sleep once more,
and create a tomorrow
so perfect that never was.
