How to show instead of tell
The five senses
“Don't tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass" is a well-known quote, often attributed to Anton Chekhov.
In this session we looked at how to write through the five senses. The task set was to write about a daily activity, but to think what you smell, hear, taste and touch while you’re doing this routine.
Window to the World
by Joao Godinho
It's about my window to the world.
Not the news; there are no news anymore, just counterfeit, global noise. Not the endless ads, seeping into every word, whispering their silly needs and wants.
It's the quiet daily routine of scrolling through Medium, keeping what stirs me, casting aside what doesn’t and, most of all, shaping in my mind the words I might share one day. Perhaps soon.
